Prado Salon de Reinos Madrid
This project was an effort to create a modern museum gallery in a historically significant yet forgotten piece of Spains royal past. This objective included restoring the heart of the building, the Salon de Reinos from 1635, as well as the buildings more original form. Here, the early 20th century porch is removed and replaced with a new translucent glass entrance and atrium addition, which also signals the contemporary aspirations of the Prado Museum. Visitors experience a revitalized monument with up-to-date amenities, clear circulation and climate controlled spaces. Curators and staff have access to upgraded conservation spaces, and infrastructure that addresses the demands of a 21st century museum. While at GluckmanTang
