Il Laboritorio del Gelato NY, NY

This 3500 sf fit-out includes a smaller retail space and a large production facility. In response to the client’s wish for a ‘raw’ space, and a limited budget, the retail area is left with an exposed slab ceiling, mechanical systems, and a concrete floor. In response to regulations that require a food production space to have a closed ceiling is a new, hung ceiling of luminous polycarbonate panels. These panels provide the required enclosure as well as cool, clinical diffused light. With seamless white epoxy flooring, the production space lives up to its ‘laboritorio’ namesake. While at HWKN
